My new job started a week & 1/2 ago. I’m back to the world of working full time. It’s good. I’m grateful. I’m nearing the end of the school semester and have only a few weeks of homework and tests left. To be honest, I’m looking forward to the break. I miss my blog and having the time to write. It’s my creative outlet. When I’m not able to blog, I get more and more stuck back into my old patterns. And, my old ways didn’t have any kind of creative outlet. So… I hope that it’s only a few more weeks of hectic schedule.
I saw my sister and her family this week. I haven’t seen her in years. So, it was really great to reconnect. I have a new nephew who is 5 months old. His name is Rylan. He’s very cute and super sweet. She’s got a very good baby… he’s super easy. I also got to meet my new brother in law. He’s terrific. My kids and her kids got to play and swim…overall a great time. It’s a very long story about why we were astranged for so long. The good news is that things seem to be on a different path. I’m looking forward to spending time with her and her newly expanded family.
The twins are looking forward to being off school this upcoming week. We usually go to the mountains over Thanksgiving, but this year we are staying home (you know… the money thing). We’re planning on spending time with friends and family… and getting our Christmas Tree up.
So… a new job… a new routine… a new & improved family… all good… right?
This Week’s Reads
This week, I reviewed:
In My Mailbox for Review
How to Save Your Own Life by Michael Gates Gill arrived at my doorstep. I pre-ordered Going Rogue for my Kindle.
Contests
Still nothing fun and exciting on this front.
On TV
Dancing With The Stars
I watched it… wrote up my notes… but, never got around to writing my review this week. The long and the short of it was that JoAnna Krupa was voted off. I’m sure that this surprised many! It certainly surprised me. But, I just don’t think that she could compete with Donny & Kelly’s popular vote. And, honestly, I did just look forward to watching Donny & Kelly to JoAnna, even though JoAnna is a better dancer. Of course, it seems that Mya is destined to win the contest.
The Rest…
We’re done with soccer for the Fall season, so our weekends should have some extra time in them. The girls went to see New Moon and absolutely loved it. My daughter Colie even went to the 12:05am screening on the 20th. She’s a die-hard.
I’m trying to get caught up on my book reviews and still have 7 to write. I just finished Say You’re One of Them by Uwem Akpan. After all of the rave reviews about this book, I had hoped to really love it. It was a good book and I’m glad I read it… but, it wasn’t my favorite Oprah Book Club Pick. I mean, if I am to compare it to Middlesex, another Oprah pick… I’d have to say it wasn’t as good. Anyway, I’m hoping to get caught up on my book reviews in my time off this week due to the holiday.
I want to thank y’all for continuing to visit my website and leave me comments, although I’ve done a poor job of visiting all your sites this semester. Like I said, hopefully I’ll be back in full swing by mid-December.
Have a great Thanksgiving, all!

I’m so happy that things are going well for you with your job and your family. I was surprised, but happy, when Joanna was voted off DWTS – I never really knew why, but she and Derek together really bugged me.

We understand Sheri. You focus on your new job and getting through school, and we will be here when you’re done! It makes my heart feel good to hear that you have put aside differences to try to reconcile with your sister. Family is so important, and life is short. Some people never do make an effort to bury the hatchett, which to me is very sad. I’d have to somewhat agree with you on Say You’re One of Them. It is a brilliant book, very well-written and truly raw, but it was so gut-wrenching, I had to read it in very small bits and pieces. And I’m not really a wimp…I can read a Holocaust novel with the best of them. But this book really pulled me under. Hope you have a great Sunday and Thanksgiving!

Sheri, I’m amazed you can keep up with the Sunday Salon – you’re one busy woman!!! Here’s hoping the last couple of weeks of school go great! My girls (now out of college and live in another city) asked to put the tree up next weekend so that’s what we’ll do – and I’m looking forward to it. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

You’re still getting more accomplished than I am and I’m not nearly as busy as you! Congrats on your new job and all the other changes in your life. You deserve your break and I hope you will have time to relax.
That’s great to hear things are well with your sister. We have some similar situations that we’re hoping will improve someday. The door is open but right now we’re on very different paths.
I look forward to you getting back to your blog but don’t worry about it. We’ll be here waiting. I hope you’re holidays are wonderful!
I hope that you guys have a very good and relaxing holiday!
I’m just starting to gear up for my first real sport season ever. My oldest son is participating in YMCA basketball this year and will have practices and games each week. He’s done sports before, but this is the first year that he gets to participate in actual games/competitions. I’m very excited for him, but wonder what kind of chaos it’s going to bring to our lives with the practices and such.
I totally understand about the sister thing (and am so happy for you that you guys are making it work). I have two sisters: one I’m close to and one I’m not close to, and it makes holiday visits interesting, that’s for sure. Thankfully we all usually manage to pull it together and be civil and have fun for the holidays.

Congrats on the new job, Sheri! And reconnecting with your sister is a good thing, especially if you’re wanting the same things (or mostly similar) out of the relationship. =) I really miss my siblings, but there’s not much I can do about it from halfway ’round the world… =)
Happy Thanksgiving week!
I was surprised, but glad that Joanna was voted off. She was a better dancer than Donny and Kelly, but after I watched her total bitchiness this summer on Superstars (?) I couldn’t root for her.

Congrats on the new job! I hope it all really works out well. And maybe with no more soccer stuff you can breathe a little more.

I am hoping that things slow down at ork so I can have a finished thought.

Well working with kids and going to school means a really hectic schedule. I just wanted to say I love your blog. I’m also a student and I know how difficult it can be to juggle it all. I miss my blog when I’m in school and can’t manage to write or read as much as I’d like to. The great this is that whenever some free time does pop up, my blog and the wonderful blogging community that I’ve slipped into is there waiting for me with open arms. It’s a great feeling.
