The Sunday Salon: Working Girl…
And… so…. it keeps getting better.
God never forgets about me… he reminds me that I am his child. And, he always provides for me…
And, he has… AGAIN!
To make a very long story short, I was at a point in my life where I absolutely needed a full-time job. This was necessary for my family to keep our home. Although I’d been making ends meet with part-time work and school, I was facing the end of my financial ability to sustain the house without a full-time job. Truthfully, I was completely fearful. Yet, at the same time I just had this belief that God would provide me the opportunity to work and be a provider for my children.
And… he DID.
I know my story is like so many others out there. I just feel so lucky that, this time, it was my number that was called. I have a great new job in the city adjacent to mine. The commute isn’t really that bad, at all! I have a great new staff who really operate with a team mentality. My new assistant manager is a very nice gal… a mom… with daughters. So, we have that in common.
So far, there is plenty of challenge in my new position and I have things to tackle straight away. I have only worked two full days in my new job, but so far I really like it.
All my thanks go to God on this one. I saw his hand in everything… from how I heard about the position to how I was lucky enough to get it.
I am thinking about all of the people who have been struggling like me. I will make it my focus to pray for them, that they will be able to rely on God for their strength. Also, I will pray for our economy’s future.
I learned so much from this entire experience… and, I’m not nearly through learning. Nothing… and, I mean NOTHING, should be taken for granted. More importantly, I need to remind myself to rely on God during the good times as well as the hard times. I have to remember to allow him to work on my patience and my faith in all times of my life… not just when I need him. Lastly, I have to remember to stay humble and grateful.
As you can read, I am so extremely grateful for my new job. It feels good to be able to contribute my education and experience towards the property management of this company’s assets.
This Week’s Reads
This week, I reviewed:
NOTHING.
Can you believe it? I got no book reviews done. And, yet, I have read and will be reviewing the following:
-
Last Night in Twisted River by John Irving
-
The Liar’s Club by Mary Karr
-
Everything Sucks by Hannah Friedman
-
Middlesex by Jeffrey Eugenides
-
The Opposite of Love by Julie Buxbaum
-
Pretty in Plaid by Jen Lancaster
-
Half Broke Horses by Jeannette Walls
Last Night in Twisted River by John Irving
The Liar’s Club by Mary Karr
Everything Sucks by Hannah Friedman
Middlesex by Jeffrey Eugenides
The Opposite of Love by Julie Buxbaum
Pretty in Plaid by Jen Lancaster
Half Broke Horses by Jeannette Walls
Yes… I have read all of these books and yet have not written my reviews on them yet. EEK. I’ve been that busy with work and school. My poor blog! I’m so bad. I was hoping to write them today, but I have the worst allergies and cannot breathe. Plus, the kids have a soccer party this afternoon and I have two biology labs due tomorrow.
The thing is, I am done with school in just under 1 month. I think that after I am done with school, my normal blogging activity will kick in. It’s just too hard with school to keep up with ANM. Forgive me, loyal readers.

Nothing this week.

Here is this week’s recap!
The Rest…
The twins tied in their playoff game yesterday. They had to win, not tie, the game to take 1st place and move on into the playoffs. Unfortunately, the tie landed them in 2nd place overall. It’s a huge bummer because our team completely dominated the other team. We just couldn’t execute a goal. So… our season is done. But, today we’re going to their soccer end-of-season pool party and that should be fun for them… and, miserable for me because I can’t breathe and I don’t want to go anywhere.
I went to ladies’ Bunco night on Friday night (very fun). I was also able to visit my brother and his wife for dinner one night this week. I swear, my nephew is the cutest little guy!
I’m happy, not so healthy, but extremely content in spirit. I’m such a lucky girl!
As always, my thanks to all of you for reading not only this post, but the others as well. Your readership means the world to me! AND, your comments are invaluable to me!

What wonderful news! I’m so glad to see that you got a job and that you’re loving it too. I can’t believe you got all that reading done with all you had going on.

He does take care of us in His way, does he not? I am SO happy for you! You have such a great attitude, I know you will be wildly successful at this job, and hopefully you will be very rewarded and happy too.
I am really excited for you to finish school! I would imagine the clouds will part once that is done, and then you can go back to having more time for yourself to do what you want. I can’t wait to read your review of Half Broke Horses!

So happy that you found a good job wiht good people. When you don’t mesh with the people it makes the job itself very difficult. Good luck and I hope everything starts to wind down so you can feel ‘normal’. Next~ I hope my mom’s turn comes next to find a job! It’s been a month and half already and zippo. Sigh. It is going to be a tough holiday season all around.
Get your reviews posted, and get it over with. I always try to get the set up of it up early in the reading stage.. so that I feel more capable of adding in a line or two towards a review when I get the inspiration.
I hope you get caught up soon! I’ll be looking for the Middlesex one =)
Take care!

Yay – I’m so excited for you! Congratulations on the new job!
Don’t worry so much about the reviews, especially with school and work at the same time. I stay at home with my boys and I hardly have time for reviews. I don’t know how you manage to do so much, but your blog is fabulous and I’m sure everyone will understand if you slow down on the posts for a little while.
Congrats again on the job!

Congrats on the new job! They are few and far between so any person that has a job right now is certainly a lucky individual. I know you are a single mom so I can only imagine the stress that you must have been feeling.
