This time last week, I could proudly boast that I was still in my 30’s. This is no longer the case. I’ve crossed over. I’m now a member of the 40’s Club. I still can’t believe it myself. How did my life go by so fast? It seems like yesterday when the twins were born. Man-O-Man… I AM OLD!
So, last Sunday the twins and I went out to dinner with my brother, his wife, Terra, and their baby to celebrate my birthday. We went to this local restaurant which I LOVE LOVE LOVE called Lucille’s. It’s a Southern BBQ place and the food there is YUMMY! But, before we even went there, Terra and I had peach champagne (YUM). After dinner, we had more champagne and cupcakes. They also gave me a present. Hold onto your hats….
I GOT A….
KINDLE!
Can you believe it? I cannot!
So, I immediately downloaded Half Broke Horses by Jeannette Walls. I finished the book and really enjoyed it. The Kindle is terrific. What I found that I enjoy is that it will read the book aloud to you, sort of like an audio book. So, I can take The Kindle with me in the car and listen to the story, as well! I love the wireless access and the ability to read blogs on my Kindle, as well.

So… birthday week continued on. My friend Danielle and I had Mexican Food and margaritas on my actual 40th. Even the soccer coach helped out and took my twins out to pizza so that I could have a break. Danielle and I had a great time.
Friday Night, I met up with my friends Lynn and Terrie, who I haven’t seen in FOREVER. We went out for sushi and it was UBER-FABULOUS! I also scored some great champagne and a lotto ticket! COOL!
Last night, I went to The Melting Pot with my BFF Lori. The picture of Lori & I is below. We had a great dinner. If you’ve never been to a Melting Pot, well you get to have fondue and also cook your own dinner on neato skewers. It’s really fun and super yummy!

As you can imagine… all this going out and now I’m as huge as a house! But, it was fun… and, now I’m 4-0. MY GOD!
This Week’s Reads
This week, I reviewed:

In My Mailbox for Review
When She Flewby Jennie Shortridge came in for review. Also, What I Wore To Save The World by Maryrose Wood arrived. I won Say You’re One of Them by Uwem Akpan from BermudaOnion’s Weblog (YEAH) and it arrived this week. So… goodie… lots of good ones!
Also… a super big thank you to Darlene for sending the twins the YA books. They love them and have finished them up already!
Contests
Still no contests, folks.
On TV
Dancing With The Stars
Here is this week’s recap!
The Rest…
The twins had soccer playoffs yesterday. Of the two games, they won one and lost the other. I don’t know what happened with them during the 2nd game… they just didn’t play like they usually do. The first game, we beat the first place team 3-0… so that was awesome. But, the 2nd game was a disaster. So sad. We have one more play game next weekend. We may already be out contention for further area playoffs… so… I am sad that our great team may see the end. I just love going to soccer games!
I’m caught up with school work right now, although I’ve got a good amount of homework to get finished up today. I’ve also finished up 6 books that I haven’t written reviews on that I’d like to get to. If I get my homework done in a reasonable time frame, then I’ll get those written up.
A big thank you to my friends and family for treating me so special this week! It was awesome!
As always, my thanks to all of you for reading not only this post, but the others as well. Your readership means the world to me! AND, your comments are invaluable to me!

Its all in how old you feel – and dont you know that 40 is the new 30?
The books look great this week!
Congrats on turning 40! I turn 30 next Sunday so it will be a big “crossing over” for me too. It’s hard to believe for me, too. How can my 10 year high school reunion be happening? Didn’t we just graduate? Didn’t I just graduate from college? Wait, didn’t I just start teaching? Wait, where did the time goooo!!!

Welcome to the club, girl! We are NOT old, we are getting wiser and more gorgeous with age! It sounds like you had a fabulous birthday, as it should have been. Oh, you have GOT to love the Kindle! I got mine earlier this year, and I am in love with it. Instant gratification! Now, for every giftable event, I ask for Amazon gift cards. That way, I can draw on it at a moment’s notice. Last night, the four of us attempted to go to The Melting Pot…I was having a severe need for fondue. And at 5:30, they were totally booked. Recession my patootie!

Happy, happy birthday!! Welcome to the 40s! I’ve got 5 extra years on you and I still can’t believe I’m that old. I don’t mind my age I just don’t know where the time went. I do agree that it keeps getting better so enjoy!
What a great gift you got too! Wow, a Kindle!! I didn’t know that they read the books for you – so cool! I don’t have any interest (or money) in buying one but if I ever won one that would be fun. I’m sure I would make use of it.
Congrats and happy birthday!!
Happy Bithday

Well it sounds like you had a great birthday Sheri! I’ve been in the 40 club for a little over a year now, and I’ve actually been ok with it. I think turning 30 had a much bigger impact on me for some reason. You’ll see it’s not so bad…especially after a margarita or two! lol

I have recently gotten a Kindle, too! I haven’t had a chance to post about it yet. Until this weekend I’ve not posted much anyway. I can’t wait to, though.
Have a great night!
