The Story

Melanie Zeitgar just makes it up as she goes along!  Her truth is stranger than fiction and people just buy it.  Along with the compulsive lying, she is a cleptomanic and constant shoplifter.  She has men trouble like you wouldn’t believe and manages to alienate the only friends she has.  Melanie even manages to lose her mother’s five dogs while dog-sitting.  When she meets the right man for her, Melanie jeopardizes everything great about the first stable relationship in her life.  With a mantra of “don’t get caught,” she manages to spin her life completely out of control.

The Review

marycarterI love love love ChickLit!  It takes me away into another woman’s story of friendship, chaos, romance, and family drama.  Mary Carter has delivered a classic twist on ChickLit with the ultra-flawed heroine, Melanie.  Let me tell you, this chick is just a train wreck!  And, that’s what makes this story your not-so-typical ChickLit.  So fun!!! Sooo fun!

Have you ever had that experience of watching something horrific as it’s happening? It’s like… you don’t want to look at it, but you can’t keep your eyes off of it.  Well, that’s what this novel is like.  You can’t imagine anything else happening to Melanie, and yet it does!  But, not to the point of absurdity, if you know what I mean!

The story was fun.  Mary Carter has a wicked-cool sense of humor that comes across in this novel.  For the lovers of light reading, this book will be the perfect escape.  For the heavy-duty book lovers, this is the perfect in-between-serious-reading-books, novel.

The Rating 8

In the genre Fiction:ChickLit, on Sher’s “Out of Ten Scale,” I am giving She’ll Take It a rating of 8 out of 10.  I can’t wait to read Accidentally Engaged another ChickLit title by Mary Carter.  Many of you may remember Mary Carter from Sunnyside Blues, a standard fiction novel, released this year.

Giving Thanks

Thank you, thank you, thank you… Mary Carter for sending me her ChickLit books!  Yeah! Yeah!

This sounds like a blast! Also, I have a friend named Mary Carter, who is larger than life (smokes, drinks and has had four husbands and makes no bones about it) so I would be dragging that image along with me as well.

I’m a huge fan of a nice fluffy read every now and then. This book sounds like the perfect read for a lazy day, and I’m looking forward to lots of those now that winter is right around the corner. Thanks for the review.
