The Story
Simply… this is the story of a family and their rural life in Oregon. They get Snip from a neighbor who has to move away. The mom, dad, and three children love having Snip in their lives.
The Review
This nicely illustrated book shares tales of Snip… his grooming, his obedience, his helpfulness, his love for the family and his distaste for skunks and other little varmints. Snip is an expert at helping the son to learn to drive the big truck. He’s a great sound-maker if something is wrong and he loves his comfy bed and yummy food.
Snip was a wonderful dog that was obviously loved tons and tons. But, more than that, the author does a good job at giving the reader a glimpse of that family life they experienced on this small farm in Oregon… filled with nature, animals and strong family values.
I’ve never reviewed a childrens’ book before. I’m not sure that I’m the best “reviewer” for that genre. I believe that the target age group is 5-7 years of age. For that age group, I believe this would be a warm, gentle bed time story to read to them. What I would have enjoyed more of are MORE pictures. I think the illustrator did a GREAT job!
I heard from the author that a sequel is done and it’s currently being illustrated. I think that Betty Moir has delivered a delightful book… I’m just not sure quite how to rate it. It was a good book… but… didn’t WOW me like other children’s books from my kids’ past. But, I’m a mom of old kids… I may have just forgotten!
My heartfelt thanks to the author for sending me this book.

This sounds like something my son would like to read, he’s 8 . He loves dogs so anything to do with dogs would be perfect!
Great review!
