tss-badgeI have been praying and hoping for a few things for some time now.  Last week, I started to give up hope and lose patience.  My best friend, Lori, prayed with me and reminded me to hold onto the reminder that God loves me and has a plan for my life.  I have really been trying to be patient and wait for God’s word… but, I needed some answers.  I felt as if I’d been waiting forever and I was starting to lose hope.

But, just like he always does… God comes through for me!  This week, he gave me an answer that I was really hoping for.  It looks like things with the house are going to work out on the loan.  Thank you, God!

He also blessed me with a couple of job interviews this week and some positive news about potential income.  Thank you, God!

I also was able to start school this week, which had been a biggie on my prayer list.  Thank you, God!

So… Lori was right.  I just had to hold on and keep trusting in him to guide my life.   I had to keep thoughts positive and keep action items in motion.  Today… I am just so thankful for these “gifts” from this week and am looking forward to a positive week, starting today!

This Week’s Reads

This week, I read and reviewed:

In My Mailbox for Review

Here are this week’s review copies that have graced my cradenza:

stack-of-books

Contests

I announced my winner for a copy of Sunnyside Blues by Mary Carter… congratulations to DesertRose.  Currently, I am hosting a giveaway for a copy of The 19th Wife by David Ebershoff!

I have a SUPER COOL contest for Jane Porter’s Easy on The Eyes coming up on July 1st!   You’re going to love the contest.  Start thinking about all of your favorite things Hollywood!

Reading Challenges

On J. Kaye’s 100+ Reading Challenge…  I’m at 80 books done.  Therefore, my statistical update for this challenge is that I’m 80% completed with 45% of the year completed.  This puts me ahead of schedule by 35%.   If I review at least 2 books a week, then I only have 2 1/2 more months to go and then I’m done!  I’m very very excited.  I’ve never read this much in my entire life.  This is a huge goal that I set for myself and it feels good to close in on it.  All you veterans out there, I’m sure, can relate!

Lainey Grace Update

Lainey Grace and Lori are still at home. YEAH!  Lainey had to go in for a blood transfusion and a PICC line dressing change (which Lainey just can’t stand).   This did not require a hospital stay.  So, this time NO infection that sent them back into the hospital in between chemo visits.  This is a first for them!  Oh.. the grace of God!  They are going back into the hospital this week for Lainey’s FINAL round of chemotherapy.  I am just hoping that Lori and Lainey have a good week with the family before Lainey’s final hospital stay (hopefully!).

For all of you who have kept this family in your prayers, I personally want to thank you, again!  In case you haven’t read Lainey Grace’s story, you can access it by clicking  HERE

On TV

So You Think You Can Dance

sytucd1This week was the beginning of the competition with the Top 20 dancers paired up to bring it!  Alan Shankman was the guest judge this week.  I believe that the two dancers that were voted out (surprisingly, they were a couple in the competition) were the right choice for elimination.  My favorite dances included the crash test dummies number and the salsa.   As we narrow down to fewer couples, I’ll start posting some pics and videos!  Right now, the pack is too big to keep straight!

The Bachelorette

Kipton took over the lead in my poll for the hottest guy, yet only by one vote!  I’m excited to see her date with Michael, the break dance instructor.  Hopefully, this week she’s going to give Wes DAS BOOT!    Here’s my post on this week’s episode and please continue to visit me on Tuesday for weekly updates!

The Whale Wars

I was heart-broken after watching the first episode of this season’s The Whale Wars on The Animal Planet.  I did a lot of reading on the internet after the fact and wrote a post about it this week.  If you missed the post, please check it out HERE.

At Home

I have a book club meeting today to discuss A Thousand Splendid Suns.  I’m excited to see the gals and find that I look forward to this meeting more and more each month!

As I mentioned above, I started school and I am all caught up on my homework… actually ahead, which is good.  I have some “housekeeping” projects to keep me busy this week with paperwork and school.   I also have a business meeting that is quite important to me and my family on Monday.   And, I mentioned above that there have been some VERY GOOD job interviews this week.  So… if I could impose on y’all for some more prayers… that would be SUPER!

The twins finally made their way off restriction.  They are out of school on Wednesday, so I’m trying to plan a beach day for Thursday or Friday of this week.  DeeDee has been very moody all week… I always say she’s “on her period” even though she hasn’t started it yet.  It’s like a full week of horomones GALORE.  Oh, what a special present for me!

I ate something that didn’t agree with me on Thursday, so I was sick to my tummy on Friday and Saturday.  But, nothing that wiped me out completely.  Nothing’s stoppin’ me from book club… NO SIR REE BOB!

Still no dates or kisses.  I have to pester my BFF Neighbor Danielle to hit a local pub with me.  She’s had a head cold, though… so… she catches a break!

Well, I’m off to read more of The Lie.  This book starts out very, well, interesting.

As always, my thanks to all of you for reading not only this post, but the others as well.   Your readership means the world to me!  AND, your comments are invaluable to me!

  • I’m so happy you had a good week! I can’t imagine anyone would pass you up after interviewing you!

It looks like you had a GREAT mail week too! How ever do you get so much accomplished? And organized?!!! Can bloggers send in letters of recommendation for you to attach to your resume?!!!!!!

  • Ti:

I’m so glad things are working out for you. I know how stressful the unknown can be. It’s rough and sometimes hard to keep a positive outlook but you excel in that area. Really, you do.

I hope you have a wonderful Sunday. I sort of like all this June Gloom we are getting. It’s good “stay in and read” weather.

  • I am so happy for you, Sheri! What great news to start your week.

I am up to my eyeballs in books to review, but still I find myself jealous of what other people get in the mail. Ha! Short Girls is written by someone who grew up in my hometown. I hope you enjoy it. I didn’t like her memoir as much as I’d hoped, but she’s one of my peeps and I hope this book is a raging success.

  • Lisa:

Your post was the last one I read before I heading off to bed and I think it was a terrific way to end not only my night but my week. I’m so glad things are beginning to go your way and that your prayers are being answered. I will pray for you as well. I hope next week brings even more positive things to your life! Have a wonderful Sunday!

  • There is something very liberating about putting your problems in God’s hands and knowing that whatever comes of it, it is His plan. Then you can stop worrying and move on. Wonderful thing! I am so happy that your prayers have been answered. You are a good person and you deserve good things!

This whole thing with Lainey is heartbreaking. I hold my breath every time you report on her, and PRAY this child is allowed some peace.

I think moody girls are in our future for quite awhile for us both. I try so hard to remember what it was like to be that age, and recall being quite a bitch myself! I have other issues with my son, but he’s no picnic either sometimes. I think wine and friends are going to get me through the next 10 years!

  • Love your review of The 19th Wife. I’ve been thinking about reading it for a while, but I’d just come off a polygamy-reading binge and needed a break. I think I could read it now!

  • Hi Sheri, So glad to hear things are looking up on the job front and that school started, yay!! Also happy to hear Lainey had a good week and could be home with her family. Your pile of books is intimidating to me, but nothing for you, I’m sure! I’m always in awe of how much you have time to read.

A beach day sounds good if it warms up (will email you). If it stays cold maybe we can take the dogs and let them run.

    See you at book club!

  • PRAISE GOD – for so many blessings this week!

I have several questions for you though :) What classes are you taking? What kind of homework do you have? What job are you looking for?

I will continue to say prayers for your family and Lainey.

Hope your beach day is fun and relaxing.

  • That is a jam packed post! I am so happy that things are looking up for you…and job interviews. Hubby just called me today to tell me he has an interview tomorrow! Thank goodness…I was beginning to wonder…It’s been a tough three weeks at home….and then my job is getting more stressed.

Nothing to complain about though…I have been blessed and hope I continue to be for sometime to come.

I’m glad that things are working out for you and I will keep my fingers crossed for your interviews.
