DWTS: The Finals!

WILL I EVER GET THE IMAGE OF BRUNO IN A SPEEDO OUT OF MY HEAD?
CARRIE ANN’S “PEEPS” ARE CALLED “POOPS?”
It’s our final three couples and we’re ready for the final showdown.
Here’s my nagging and praising for this week’s couples:

- Shawn Johnson and Mark Ballas
First Dance – Paso Doble: In this group, yet individual number, Shawn and Mark were my least favorite of the bunch. They did hit their moves, however it just lacked any emotional connection for me. The judges agreed by scoring them 3rd of the 3 couples. Scores: 9-9-10.
Second Dance – Freestyle: They had a funky clown/mime/hip-hop strange outfit thing going on the beginning of this dance. Personally, their disrobing was a bit awkward for me and didn’t really suit the routine. However, the judges claimed that the “loved” this routine and score it highly. Shawn was very focused on making great marks with this routine as Apollo Ono visited her rehearsal and reminded her that every gold medalist who made the finals won the season. I saw several instances where their moves were not in sync with one another and the dance didn’t do much for me. However, I am the minority on this in my household. The twins thought it was awesome. Scores: 10-10-10.
Overall Total: 58/60
Tied for First Place

- Melissa Rycroft and Tony Dovalani
First Dance – Paso Doble: I loved Melissa and Tony’s costumes, although Tom Bergeron teased Tony about the “mosquito netting” that they made his shirt from. I felt they were second best of the 3 couples and the judges agreed with me. Scores: 10-9-10
Second Dance – Freestyle: I liked this routine, however felt that I had “been there and done that.” It was a bit of a throw back to the 80′s/90′s with moves including the Running Man. Len didn’t care for it. Bruno thought that it was “disjointed” between all of the lifts and needed more dancing. Carrie Ann thought that it wasn’t fluid enough. The routine was good, but it didn’t show me something new and exciting. I blame this on Tony! We needed better choreography and less cheerleading. Scores: 9-9-9
Overall Total: 56/60
Second Place

- Gilles Marini and Cheryl Burke
First Dance – Paso Doble: I thought they did the best job of the 3 couples and, once again, the judges agreed with my opinion on this. The costumes were nice, the moves were great, and they deserved the top spot in this dance. Scores: 10-10-10
Second Dance – Freestyle: Once again, I want to shoot the choreographer on the content of this dance. Cheryl had them do a Flashdance routine to “What a Feeling.” OH NO! Please, God, make them stop. I personally couldn’t wait for the dance to be over. Scores: 9-10-19
Overall Total: 58/60
Tied for First Place

I know you’re rooting for Melissa, but Gilles my favorite. Of course, I never vote.
