Monday’s Movie: Bedtime Stories
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
I invite everybody to participate in the weekly MEME and write about any movies, television or big screen, that you’ve seen over the past week and write about it. Please feel free to use the above logo photo in your post and/or link back to the site. I will post every Sunday Night or Monday Morning on the movie I’ve seen from the past week. I’m hoping that there are other movie buffs out there who will enjoy the MEME as much as I’m hoping to! The only small request that I have is that you rate the movie out of 5 bags of popcorn (so, 1 bag out of 5, 2 bags out of 5, and so on).
——————————————————————————————————————————————–
Movie: Bedtime Stories
Starring: Adam Sandler, Keri Russell, Guy Pearce, Courteney Cox, Russell Brand, Lucy Lawless, Jonathan Pryce, Teresa Palmer, Richard Griffiths
Genre: Comedy/Family/Fantasy
Runtime: 99 Minutes
MPAA Rating: PG
Directed By: Adam Shankman
Happy Mother’s Day was an early dinner, a couple of games of Sequence with the twins and then we rented Bedtime Stories. A few minutes into the movie, I was snoring away on the couch.
But, wait!
After I wake up from a long evening nap and the girls go to bed, I start the movie back up. It was DELIGHTFUL! I thought it was a terrific family movie and it had everything in it that you could possibly hope for (for kids and parents).
This movie reminded me, a bit, of The Princess Bride, but more “modern day.” In other ways it was a bit like Night At The Museum. This movie had adventure, fantasy, good vs. evil, romance, and humor. I enjoyed the movie so much that I found myself giggling aloud while I watched it.
The characters were terrific and I thought the casting for this movie was perfect. I loved the guinea pig, “Bugsy” (so cute). Adam Sandler is ideal for playing “the funny uncle” and I think his talent was well applied to this role.
Overall, this movie was good, clean fun. Disney & Sandler’s production team hit a home run with this movie. Out of 5 bags of popcorn, genre family… I give this:

Glad you liked this movie I was pleasantly surprised when we watched it. I agree this is a great family movie and even if you are not an Adam Sandler fan, he does a good job in this role.
I loved Bugsy too, we just cracked up when ever he was on.
May is a great month as all the block busters come out and I am just a sucker for them. We saw the new trailers for Terminator and Transformers and they both looked good.

I’ve heard of this one, but had actually read mediocre reviews of it. I’m glad to see that you liked it so much.

I wasn’t sure I’d like Bedtime Stories, but you make it sound so appealing, Sheri. Movies like this are really hit and miss with me and so I’m rather picky about which ones I’ll see.
I will be reviewing the movie I saw over the weekend tomorrow. I had a prior commitment for today. I should stop scheduling things on Monday so I can do the movie thing on Mondays.

Remember, the 5-bags of popcorn rating is for the genre: FAMILY… I thought it was a very good overall family movie.
Don’t expect Oscars!

We saw this movie on Christmas day and I was pleasantly surprised by it. My husband loves ALL of the zany Adam Sandler movies so I am quite famiiar with Sandler’s sense of comedy so I was groaning a bit when they chose this movie for Christmas day but it turned out great! It was very cute.
