LEN’S GOING TO PICKLE HIS WALNUTS.

SHAWN’S GOT THE KILLER INSTINCT.

TY CLAIMS:  “I DON’T KNOW WHERE THIS RUMBA HAS BEEN ALL OF MY LIFE” JUST AFTER HE REMINDS CHELSIE THAT IT’S PRETTY CLEAR BY NOW THAT HE’S NOT CUBAN!

The pack thins out with Chuck and Julianne voted off last week.  The biggest question of this week is whether or not Melissa is healed enough to perform.

Here’s my nagging  and praising for this week’s couples:

Regarding their Argentine Tango:  Len commented that she portrayed the “Lady of the Night” and that he was strong and gave it a “Come and Get It” feel.  I agree.  Ty’s giving it his best.  But, is it good enough?  Scores: 8-9-8     The Rumba was not the easiest dance for Ty… oh no no no!  I think that this dance will be Ty’s exit ticket from the show tomorrow night.  But, as Bruno said, there is a difference between like-ability and ability.  Ty’s ability just isn’t at the same level as the remaining competitors.  Ty’s solo was hysterical as he swayed over to his wife, Jewel, with some sorted hip action.  Ty claimed that he hoped it paid dividends later in the evening.  Scores: 7-7-7-

Shawn Johnson and Mark Ballas

They had the Quick Step this week.  The song from Alladin  was a fun walk down memory lane when my kids were small and I knew all of those Disney songs by heart.  They did a fine job with the Quick Step and I felt that both did a good job with hitting the steps as choreographed.  Scores: 9-9-9.   Their second dance was the Paso Doble.  I really liked Shawn’s solo as it was very commanding.  Bruno went crazy over the dance and was up waving his arms about.  Of course, Len was totally annoyed, leaning back, and scowling at Bruno.  It cracks me up!  Scores: 10-9-10.

Melissa Rycroft and Tony Dovalani

Even with Melissa’s rib injury, they performed a lovely Viennese Waltz for their ballroom routine.  I agreed with Bruno that her pique turns were a bit “sticky,” but it was an overall a lovely routine.  What I most enjoyed about watching this routine was Tony’s support for his partner.  He truly wanted her to do well.  Tony just seems like the nicest man!  Scores: 9-9-9   Their Salsa was absolutely wonderful!   This dance was everything that you could want… it was sexy, flirty, and technically great.  It was just classy and fun!  She has got to make it to the finals!  Scores: 10-10-10

Some controversy about Kim’s transformation from a “tramp” to a “lady” in their Waltz.   The routine was decent but did nothing to excite the senses.   This Waltz was above average, but not their best performance to date.  Wardrobe:  ARE YOU KIDDING ME?   Scores:  8-9-8  I’m so done with all of the “bionic bootie” comments… ENOUGH!  They performed a Salsa in the latin round.  It was okay.  Her outfit was entirely too small on the bottom part and I found it distracting when she was doing her kicks and what not.  Kim’s friends in the audience were giving the judges a hard time.  In fact, one of them stood up and boo’d when they were raising the scoring paddles and you can see it in the video.  I didn’t think she was “awesome” and I think that the judges scored it right.  Scores: 9-9-9  Kim, you were just better last week…

Gilles Marini and Cheryl Burke

Their Fox Trot was to the song “Fever” (famously performed by Elvis).   Their performance was fun and sexy with nice lines.  Len was critical of Gilles’ lack of pushing through his heels to get a proper “rise and fall” in the routine.  I felt is was hardly noticeable.   Scores: 10-9-10.   They were assigned the Rumba for their second dance.  I agreed with the judges, that funky moon-walking thing in the beginning of the dance (during his solo) was strange.  I didn’t like it at all.  Len was, of course, put off by the “rolling around on the floor thing.”  The dance was good and Gilles moving his hips about is not hard on the eyes!  Scores: 9-9-9

  • It’s time for Ty to go – he’s cute and he’s sweet, but enough already!

  • Ty very likeable…but hmmm a dancer he is so not…good bye ty.
Finals: Gilles and Cheryl; Melissa and Tony. I’m rooting for Gilles…althought I don’t dislike Melissa as much as others…she’s just not my first choice.

  • PS Lil Kim might not necessarily be one of my favorites either…but I must admit there are quite a few shows watching because of her…so I don’t think she’s been bad for ratings…and hmmm looks like Derrick likes a lil’ sum-sumthin about her as well…cuzz she has him whupped. ;)
