My teen years were very stressful because I was always the odd kid out and was teased a great deal. Unfortunately I didn’t have much in the way of faith in those days, I think it would have helped it I did!

Hey – Thanks for the Giveaway – I had already posted a comment on your review! I also follow your blog and you are on my blogroll -During my teen years my dad was diagnosed with cancer and died when I was 17 – I absolutely think my faith was a huge factor in getting me through that time. I currently have 2 teen daughters and I think a lot of the pressures are the same – “Peer” pressure, drinking, sex – and I am really hoping their faith will make a difference for them also!

I love the sound of these books. I like that they’re current but have a Christian base. (Wish I’d had books like these when I was a teen.) I think they’d be great to give to my niece when she’s a little older.
Thanks! :0)

I would love to be entered into this contest.
During my teen years I couldn’t wait to get to be an adult. I thought it was the easiest thing in the world to make your own decisions and be responsible for yourself and not have to answer to anyone. I know better know and try as I might to relay that knowledge to my teen daughter, she is so much like me and can’t wait to be able to be grown! Little does she know it’s a lot harder than it looks.

During my teens, I was a cheerleader. But I don’t date. There’s this strong peer pressure to get a boyfriend because every cheerleader have one. I was raised quite religious, so I didn’t succumb…but a lot of people thing I was lesbian.

Thanks for the giveaway!
I think teens today have it rougher, and I was a teen not too long ago. It seems that they grow up much faster and are exposed to more adult things at an earlier age. It seems they aren’t “kids” as long.
I also follow.

Wow! What a contest! I think I commented on the actual review, but I’m going to go back and check. I am a follower and you are on my blog roll. I am subscribed via Google Reader.
As for my tween/teen years, yes, peer pressure was an issue. At the time, I was very involved in my church’s youth group. As long as I was with those friends, I didn’t really have those issues, but if I was w/another crowd, then I tended to give into the peer pressure – drinking, smoking.
Tweens/teens of today have so many outside pressures, not just their peers, tv, magazines, internet, etc. I think the biggest challenge that the girls face today is that of body image. They think they have to look like the skinny models and have trouble just being happy w/themselves.

My teenager years were not as dramatic as most. I had one boyfriend who cheated on me. How did it effect me I had a hard time trusting men for a long time. Yes, my faith gave me the strength to forgive him.
Some of the pressures that face teen today are the pressures to have sex and send pictures of themselves nude via text to be popular their have been lots of shows about that. I would like to tell teens if they want you do to do that and they do not want to be your friend if you do not do it they never truly liked you in the first place. Yes, I think that faith makes a difference because no matter what God loves you.

4. The shallowness of the other teens irriated me while I was in public school, so I tried to just stay away from them. If they got out of line though and were mean or cruel to other people, I let them know. Very stressful.

5. Every magazine, movie, tv show, and YA books “normalize” drugs, sex, alcohol, disrespect, and selfishness. One of there biggest challenges is probably just knowing whats right and wrong. Today people keeping trying to get the idea that there is a gray zone inbetween black and white. But there isn’t. Just because you don’t know which is which, doesn’t mean there isn’t a right and wrong choice.

+1 entry: I’m about to subscribe.
+2 entries: In your comment, tell us something about your teenage years. What challenges did you face with peer pressure or dating? Did your faith help you during this time in your life?
I’ve been a strong Christian since I was just a little kid, and my faith grows stronger each day. As a teenager, I’m faced with a LOT of peer pressure, but by praying, I’ve been able to overcome it with Jesus’s help.
+2 entries: In your comment, share your thoughts about our tweens/teens of today. What do you think their biggest challenges are in their lives? What resources do you think help the most? Does faith make a difference?
Faith DOES make a difference. If you are filled with the Holy Spirit, you’re filled with joy and love, too. Teens now adays are getting into so much trouble and doing so much bad stuff. They need to open their eyes and see that it’s wrong.
