Will You Include Her In Your Prayers?
Tonight, I spoke on the telephone with a 6-year old, precious angel! I spoke to her while she was falling asleep in a hospital bed in Children’s Hospital in San Diego, California. A week ago today, she was playing with her two brothers, swimming, and eating just great. Tonight, she is diagnosed with Lymphoma-B and is fighting a large mass in her chest and stomach cavity via Chemotherapy. This darling sweetie is my best friend’s daughter. It took my best friend several days to call me to let me know. When she did, in shock and horror, I sobbed.
Here is what Lainey is stricken with (temporarily, we all hope):
“B-Cell Lymphomas
Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphomas caused by malignant (cancerous) B-Cell lymphocytes represent a large subset (about 85% in the US) of the known types of lymphoma (the other 2 subsets being T-Cell lymphomas and lymphomas where the cell type is the Natural Killer Cell or unknown). B-Cells undergo many changes in their life cycle dependent on complex signaling processes between cells and interaction with foreign substances in the body. Apparently various types of lymphoma or leukemia can occur in the B-Cell life cycle.”
I have written about Lori several times on this blog. She and I have been best friends for over 24 years. Lori is my angel from God and has served her Lord like no other. She is a home-schooling, mother of 3 who lives her life for Jesus. She has been faced with some family troubles in the past year or so. Just as they “clear the woods,” this happened to their only little girl. I remember when she was pregnant with her… after TWO boys. Nobody is more “girlie” than Lori, so I was very happy for her. Here’s a snipet of a previous post about her:
LORI – Famous only to those who love her… MY BEST FRIEND
Lori and I have been friends since 1983-4. So, I guess that means that we’ve been friends for 24+ years. Some of you people reading this blog aren’t even that old. Good grief… I’m a hag. But, Lori would have to be the other person there and not just because she’s my life-long best friend, but because to me she’s a modern-day hero. She has dedicated her life to God and raising her family by the word of God. She loves her husband faithfully and wholly. She’s an amazing mother and humanitarian. When anybody has ever needed help, she’s been there. She’s taken care of her dying father and mother-in-law and nursed them in her home until their passage to Heaven. She took in her nephew, a very troubled child, when his unfit mother abandoned him and nobody else would take responsibility for this boy. She’s the definition of a true friend. I don’t think that there’s anything that I’ve done or said (which, BTW… is A LOT… I’m the nutjob in the family) that has made her change her mind about loving me. She’s been my inspiration and my protection, my confidant and my prayer guide. I believe that she is an angel sent down to earth for those of us who really need her the most (I’m for sure one of them). There’s no other human being in the world like her.
My cry is to all the mothers who read my blog…
My cry is to all of those who pray…
Please include Lainey in your prayers and positive wishes for healing. Please include Lori in your prayers and positive wishes for comfort. Please include Lori’s family in your prayers for their well-being and comfort.
I understand that The Ronald McDonald House has been remarkable in assisting with a room. I’m sure to donate to the cause much more than I have in the past. How remarkable to find a family bed/room after spending days in the hospital, in shock, with your baby in a hospital bed!
I know many of you are attending Easter services this Sunday. Lori’s father died on Easter not long ago… and now her baby girl is fighting for her life on Easter. Please, please… pray for them in church.
I can’t thank you enough!
In His Love,
Sheri

I’m so sorry. I’ll pray for your friend and her daughter this Easter weekend.
Thank you, Marie.
I will keep her and her family in my prayers. I’ve just emailed the woman in charge of the prayer chain at my church and asked her to add Lainey’s name to their list.
Anna, thank you very much. I’ll pass this along to Lori.
I am just so sorry. Of course I will add Lorie, Lainey and their entire family to my prayer list.
Thank you very much, Molly!
Just included her in my prayers.. will continue to do so.
Thank you very much, Claire.
I will be praying for Lainey and her family. It always seems so unfair when children have to go through things like this.
Thank you, Kathy.
Oh, Sheri. Poor baby. Children’s Hospital is a wonderful place.. I will pray for guidance for her doctors and healing for this special little girl.
Thank you, Lisa
Oh Sheri, that just made me cry. I have had a few friends and a close family member be affected by non-hodgkins lymphoma and it really is a difficult disease to deal with. I think it’s very strange for it to be found in such a young girl, isn’t it? All of these diseases just make me so frustrated. I will definitely keep Lainey in our prayers and bring her to the attention of our church prayer chain also. Lori is lucky to have a good friend like you through this difficult time.
That is so sad! I will be praying for her and her family.
Oh Sheri, I’m so sorry. Of course I will be praying that God will turn his healing hands on Lainey and offer strength to the family to get through what lies ahead. My heart aches for Lainey-children shouldn’t have to go through things like that.
Poor, sweet thing, I am sending positive thoughts, strength and healing her way….so sad it makes my heart hurt for her and her family. Keep us all posted Sheri – much love, Danielle
Sheri,
We will hold Lainey, Lori and her family in our prayers and pray for wisdom for the medical providers. I put in a prayer request to unity.org. They have a center that is manned 24/7 and the folks there will be praying 24/7 for the next 30 days for Lainey and her family.
Jo-Jo, Alyce, Darlene, Danielle and Robin,
Thank you very much!
Sheri
She’ll be in my prayers too! Lori is lucky to have such a great friend to help her through this difficult time.
Thank you, Lenore.
Sheri, I will be praying for Lainey and Lori as well as her family. This is so heartbreaking for any child to have to go through this. You are a wonderful friend to reach out and ask for prayers. Your love for this little girl and your best friend Lori is amazing, they are blessed to have you in their lives. Stay strong!
Thank you, Bonnie.
I am praying right now, Sheri – and will continue to pray for Lainey. (Hugs)
Thank you, Carrie.
How absolutely heartbreaking … of course, the family will be in my thoughts and prayers.
Thank you Betty & Boo’s Mommy.
Prayers being said in Australia for the little girl so sick and her family.
Thank you Sarah
I will definitely be praying for this family.
Lori and Lainey and the rest of the family will definitely be in my prayers!
This dear family will be in my thoughts and prayers. BPOTW
I started reading this at work on Friday and had to stop because I was almost in tears. This family is in my prayers.
Dear Sheri – I’m so sorry to hear this. Sending lots of prayer for little Lainey and for your friend.
Sheri, I’m so sorry to hear about Lainey. It’s so very unfair. We have a lot of cancer in our family too. In fact I just posted on my blog about my cousin who is having surgery tomorrow for a brain tumor. I’m also looking for those extra prayers. I will be saying many for Lainey, her family and for you too. I wish for her the best care and the best health. Please keep us posted.
Sending you love and hugs.
Of course, we will keep Lainey, Lori, their family and Lainey’s doctors and nurses in our prayers.
So sorry to hear the news about Laniney and Lori’s family and what they are having to go through. God works in mysterious ways and we will be sure to keep them in our prayers.
May everyone prayers be answered and may she recover quickly!
I have no idea what to say. I am sorry to hear your news. I hope
all your prayers are answered and she recovers quickly.
Sheri, I’ll be praying here in Arizona and if it is okay, my work has a prayer ministry that I would like to pass along this request to. We have many prayer partners in our radio station’s family and I know they would be blessed to pray for Lainey and Lori’s entire family and for you. I imagine it is heartbreaking to have your best friend deal with something like this.
