011809-0936-thesundaysa1.pngI’ve been DOWN DOWN DOWN with allergies.  Man, there’s just something about these weather changes that are giving me allergies which are turning into colds.  My friend, Josie, tells me that if I were better rested and took vitamins, I wouldn’t be down with allergies and colds so much.  And, she’s RIGHT.  But, other than orange juice, I hate taking Vitamin C.  Ok, so I’m a big baby.  Since I’m addicted to soccer, I’m on grassy (achoo) fields at least twice a week.  I’m going to have to bite the bullet and down some good ole’ Vitamin C.  I’ve got A LOT to share in this week’s wrap up:

Awards

Well, wrap me in roses (achoo)… I was presented an award from Capsette at The Narrative Causality.   Thank you so much!  I couldn’t find the origin of the award to see if there was a description that I should pass along… or, how many I should award it on to.  So, I’m awarding it to three blogs that I subscribe to, that I enjoy, and whose writers are very lovely, indeed.  My awardees for the One Lovely Blog Award go to:

READING CHALLENGES

For “Just For the Love Of It Reading Challenge” and “J. Kaye’s 100+ Book Challenge,” I’ve read 41 books so far year-to-date.  WOW… that means that I’m 41% done with J. Kaye’s Challenge and we’re only 26.39% done with the year.  I’m ahead by 14.61%.

For the participants of  the Just For the Love of It Challenge, THIS IS OUR LAST MONTH.  I can’t believe that I’m nearly finished with it.  I made lots of changes to my list and READ FOR THE LOVE OF IT!  I took books off, I put books on.  I read things just for me.  I read review copies that I carefully chose because I wanted to read them.  I learned through this challenge that I can be “selective” about the ARC’s I accept.  I can choose what looks good to me and what I’m interested in reading rather than just what is offered to me.  VALUABLE LESSON!  I also read FOR THE LOVE OF IT through my book club selections.  So, the challenge did teach me some stuff.  But, we’ve got to the end of the month to get through what’s left on our lists.  Please post your April reviews HERE.  The participants of this challenge have posted some terrific book reviews.  You can find them by going to the sidebar and click onto a month and check out what’s been linked.

At Home & On TV

Holly Madison and Steve Wozniak didn’t survive this week on Dancing With the Stars.  You can catch up on my goofy gossip (HERE).  And, what the heck is up with Megan Joy’s FREAKY swan dance and funky singing on American Idol this week?  I am NOT one of her fans and thought she should have been voted off weeks ago.  But, she finally did get DAS BOOT and I’m glad.  I loved Scott’s song this week and am just scratching my head over Adam Lambert, still.  Is he too confident?  Will Paula ever stop inflating his head?  Will he ever wear pants that aren’t too tight?

Since I’m down with DA COLD, I have finally caught up on my TV.  Except, I’ve missed an episode of Big Love and can’t seem to record the right repeat of it.  I also got trapped watching, of all things, Survivor on Thursday night.  I haven’t watched that show in ages… But, something about that episode kept me locked on.  It makes me miss Fear Factor and watching people eat bugs.  How is Joe Rogan doing today?  Anyway… I’m up to speed on all of my shows and am very sad that Guiding Light has been cancelled after 72 years.  I hope that Reva and Josh reunite before the show is over in September.

The twins are off this week for Easter Break.  That’s 9 days straight.  Holy muffins!  But, what I can say is that I just thank Jesus Christ for giving his life in sacrifice of my sins.  And, what a spectacular thing that he has risen as promised!  I am very much looking forward to really connecting to God on Easter and I hope the twins do as well.

So, other than feeling chubby and sick of being sick… I thank God for his blessings this week.  I hope that y’all are doing well out there in BLOGLAND and, as always, my thanks to all of you for reading not only this post, but the others as well.   Your readership means the world to me!  AND, your comments are invaluable to me!

  • My allergies have been miserable making too, Sheri. I hope you are feeling better soon!

It looks like you had a great reading week, and have many more great books to look forward to. I went through my immediate TBR pile this evening and organized it a little better. I probably should have used the time to read insteadk, but now I can read my book and not be thinking about how I need to organize. :-)

  • That is some reading week there! The first four books on your lists are all on my radar right now so I plan to come back and read through those reviews.

Starting The Believers by Zoe Heller today. High hopes. Happy reading!

  • I am also in misery over allergies. Isn’t it ironic that the most beautiful time of year, you feel like you can’t go outside?!!!

  • Blech, allergies. My kids suffer with that too. Sorry to hear you haven’t been feeling well. Enjoy all that time with the girls! We have spring break the following week.

  • Hi Sher,

Thank you SOO much for the award! That is so wonderful of you and I really appreciate it. :-)

Jeeze, I hear you about the allergies!! My nose has been running, I’ve been sneezing, my eyes are swollen and they feel like I have little shards of glass in them!! Yikes!
I hope you feel better soon! ((hugs))

  • Sorry you’re struggling with with allergies so much. That stinks.

  • I hope you feel better soon! My doctor thought I might have allergies last year, but it wasn’t allergies – thank goodness! I haven’t watched Survivor in a very long time since I have band practice on Thursday nights. I used to watch it religiously though. Now I’m into watching The Biggest Loser.

  • i hope you start feeling better. congrats on the blog award…and congrats on having a good reading week.

  • Sheri, I hope you feel better soon. I don’t suffer with allergies a lot but they seem extra miserable to have. Have a good week with the girls and a good Easter. It’s definitely a time for reflecting on our blessings and all we’ve been blessed with because of God. Oh yeh, I’m a Survivor junkie. The old shows were still the best but I’m still hooked. And girl, how do you manage to get so many books read in a week? lol. Take care!

  • I know exactly what you mean. I have allergies in early spring as well and I DO take a vitamin everyday. Ever since I was pregnant a few years ago, I’ve never stopped taking a daily vitamin, so that’s not it! Mine are getting worse every year I feel like. Like you said, it feels like they turn into full blown colds! Just drink lots of fluids, that’s what I do. No medicine helps me =(

  • Nely:

Thanks so much for my award, Sheri! It took me a while, but I finally got around to claiming it. :D

  • Hopefully this will help you feel a little better!

  • PS…if you can’t tell, “this” is a link! (Allergies are getting me, too!)

  • Sheri – thank you so much for the award!!! I am so honored and excited!!!!!
You have some great books listed! I have Finding Grace and am anxious to read it! Can’t wait to hear your thoughts on it as well!

  • Hoping that you find some relief from the allergies. Spring and fall allergies can be rough, my son has them bad and has to take meds to keep them in control. I hope that you can find some relief, for my son it often feels like a cold but it’s allergies.

You have a great list of books as always! I’m starting The Help this week and am looking forward to it. I’m waiting on Mating Rituals and what an interesting cover that is.

Congrats on your award, it’s pretty and you definitey deserve it!

I just joined TSS and posted my first post this past Sunday.
