The Bachelor Disappoints
For the Love of… ?
Jason Mesnick, AKA “Fickle Pickle,” disappointed last night. For all intents and purposes, he’s lost his “good guy” status with me. Melissa deserves better and Molly, AKA “Woman Lacking All Integrity,” can have him! I mean, who gets dumped in front of America and then takes him back? Not me, thank God!
I’m sure that anyone who is interested has heard by now that, all in one night, Jason got engaged, broke up with his fiance and went with choice #2. In real life, it was more like 6 weeks, but for us viewers it was all in a couple of hours. Jimmy Kimmel poked quite a bit of fun at him after the fact and God Bless Jimmy Kimmel for saying what we all would like to! I loved Kimmel’s parallel comparison to Flava’ Flave. What I don’t appreciate is Jason pulling all of this garbage in front of his son and then passing it off on Jimmy Kimmel that his son didn’t really know the difference between Melissa and the production crew. Uh… did he watch himself in the pool and carrying on? Did he hold hands and snuggle with production staff?
Jason’s latest venture… to start a charity to help rescue and aid single parents across the country. What? That’s like 50% of the statistical population according to the divorce rates. Nope… nothing can redeem him in my eyes yet. Oh… and the way that Chris Harrison just goes along with Jason like this is all such a great thing. Please, somebody stop me!
HERE is a good article about what happened. What I love about this article is that it has classic comments from women surrounding this topic. WOMEN ROCK! Check it out, you’ll get a chuckle. Tonight, we have “After The Final Rose, Part 2.” God, there’s more to this? Yes, my eyes will be peeled. I mean, who am I kidding? Like a moth to flame… yes, I admit.
Proposing to Melissa... my choice and favorite... (see past posts)

Jason before telling spineless Molly that he's in love with another. ICK. I mean, she's only 24 years old and I predict this too shall come to an end.... when she WAKES UP!
Now I know why they call this show “The Bachelor;” they NEVER get married!
Tell me what you think!

Oh man, I know you watched it last night. Molly is such a sucker. YOu know she’s young-isn’t she like 23 or something. Anyhow, she’ll grow up sooner or later and become un-smitten. On national tv you take a man back like that but then did you see her looking at him. She’s sucked completely in. I really felt bad for Melissa which starts me on another point—did you have to dump her on national tv you jerk!!! That should not have come off like that. I’m disgusted with him and there’s no way right now he’ll ever redeem himself to me. YOu don’t pick someone, change your mind and go for the next one. I really liked him from last year and then this year. Now I don’t think he has the capacity to love at all.
What do you think of the new bachelorette? I liked Jillian but truthfully I was hoping for Stephanie. She looked so beautiful last night although I think she’s way too nice to make it through a process like that.
Ok, off my soap box for now.

I’m so glad I didnt’ get wrapped up in this series. I had considered it, but boy am I glad I didn’t. He sounds like a real winner! (Sarcasm there, just in case you missed it.)

It is kind of clear that I’m in the minority here, but I don’t think what Jason did was SO horrible. I mean, yes, he hurt Melissa in a huge way, and I genuinely feel awful for her. However, like he said on Jimmy Kimmel, he was bound by contract and when the show found out that they weren’t going to stay together they didn’t give him a choice but to be on TV with the whole situation.
And honestly, would it have been better for him to stay in a relationship that he truly didn’t think was working? Would it have been better to date her or God forbid, get married to her, for months or even years just to break up at a much later date? I think as awful as the situation is for Melissa he actually did her a favor by breaking it off only a few weeks after their engagement.
As for Molly, well I do feel bad for her too – she too got her heart broken on national TV, and she too went through complete anguish and a broken heart. I don’t think there are many women who wouldn’t jump at the chance to get back together with someone they genuinely love… I can see why she took him back. I don’t know that it’s necessarily what I would have done, but as viewers we don’t truly know what goes on in these peoples’ lives… we just get a snapshot. If they truly are in love, there’s gotta be a lot more there that we’re not seeing and I say good luck to them.
Whew, that was long winded!! Oh, and also, in response to Darlene – I LOVE Jillian and I’m super excited to watch her on The Bachelorette.

I figure his ex is LOL-ing all over the floor right now. How weird the whole thing must have been for her.
It was clear to me throughout that he went for the “safe” choice, (and I think Deanna had more of a hand in this than was portrayed), rather than the “fun” choice. Perhaps his ex had been the safe choice too. Who knows. In the end, I doubt neither choice will be the right one. Do you ever notice that the men seem to make poorer choices than the women on this series?
That said, it all seemed so high school to me (as all bachelor episodes do). Of course, the people who are attracted to go on shows like this are all going to be somewhat high school.
And still I watch, like as you said, a moth to a flame.

*raises hand* Another moth to the flame here…
Here are my thoughts. Why, if you are going to break down and sob, literally drape yourself over a porch rail in despair because you had to send away one woman…would you then, merely moments later, propose to a second woman? I mean, was it not clear by his reaction in saying “goodbye” to Molly that he had some serious issues about committing to MARRY Melissa? And to then, 6 weeks later, go on national TV to break up with Melissa? I mean, come on. Ridiculous. And don’t even get me started about Molly flinging herself into his arms as soon as he says “I made a mistake.” What woman do you know who would actually do that? Okay, maybe there are some…but really, it is nauseating.
I watched Part II last night. Apparently they are “in love” and happier than ever. Any bets on how long it takes for People magazine to announce their split?

Hey, all! Yes, I had totally hoped for Stephanie! Big mistake with Jillian because she does NOTHING for me.
I most agree with Wendy… yeah… WTF is he thinking? Crumpled over in agony over a chick and then proposing the next? He should have been honest and just told them both that he needed more time to sort out his feelings and until he did… he couldn’t commit to either. That would have been the most truthful thing.
I DO NOT think that he should have married Melissa if things changed after the show. But, that’s also why I think the entire “engagement” thing is LAME! Don’t get engaged at the end! Just get promised. DUH! NONE of the Bachelors have followed through with the “psuedo-engagement” anyway.
Last night’s show was 45 minutes of repeating what we’ve already seen and 15 minutes of non-sense and them fondling all over each other on tv.
I’ve never missed a season of The Bachelor or The Bachelorette… this season may have turned me off FOREVER!

I think he made the right decision. Apparently Melissa changed when she was not in front of the cameras. It seemed to me to be all an act with her for the whole season. I adored Molly from the beginning and I can relate to her “waiting for the phone call”. It came across very romantic to me that he could not get her out of his mind. In the part two explanation it was clearly explained that Molly did not just jump in to the situation but had many hard questions that he had to answer. I think back to my boyfriend days and I sat and waited for him to come back. Molly is a classy person and deserves the happiness she held on to. And we all know we will be just as glued to the next season with Jillian.
