I very much enjoyed the review of Snow Flower and the Secret Fan. Not only did it make the book sound even more interesting, but I love that end section about foot binding/lotus foot. Gah, how painful! I like to show my students a bound foot with the shoe off… always gets ‘em.

    2. I already subscribe to your blog.

    3. Your daughters play basketball and ?

    4. I have read Snow Flower and the Secret Fan before, but I borrowed it from the library and do not own a person copy. I would love to own it so that I can lend it to my students.

I would love to read Snow flower and Losing Kei.. They’re both on my list of books I intend to borrow from the library this year to read! I really liked the Snow Flower review though.. I can only imagine how painful it had to be binding your feet as a child, and “molding” them to look the way they did in the pictures.. Yikes!
    For the questions..
Twins do soccer and basketball.. “Princess Paddywaddle” (lol!) is Claire.. The two March dates are practice for the Easter Pageant.. And you’re in Lisa’s Books on the Brain’s book club.
I’m also a follower of the blog in Google Reader. Phew! Lol. Talk about making your readers work for their entries!
    Have a great week!

I am most interested in Losing Kei…I like stories about women faced with challenges and struggle who are willing to take things into their own hands. But the Glass Castle has been in my “to get” pile for a while too.

Now to read those reviews of those other books and then a link to send a few more people your way :) Happy page turning…

For (hopefully somewhat) obvious reasons, I’m curiously drawn to The Makeover. And your review of this book is, for the reader, like holding a ladle in front of Oliver – left wanting more! ;)

    March 7th, 2009 at 10:55 am

For my extra entry, I read all of your reviews and the choice just became even more difficult! If I’d have to choose the one that I enjoyed reading most, it would be The Makedown.

I had to snicker the whole way through it “watching” this happening to the poor guy. :-) All of your reviews were excellent.
