Monday’s Movie: Academy Awards & Gran Torino via Kitty!

||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
I invite everybody to participate in the weekly MEME and write about any movies, television or big screen, that you’ve seen over the past week and write about it. Please feel free to use the above logo photo in your post and/or link back to the site. I will post every Sunday Night or Monday Morning on the movie I’ve seen from the past week. I’m hoping that there are other movie buffs out there who will enjoy the MEME as much as I’m hoping to! The only small request that I have is that you rate the movie out of 5 bags of popcorn (so, 1 bag out of 5, 2 bags out of 5, and so on).
———————————————————————————————————————————————-
FORGIVE ME.
I had hoped, beyond measure, to see Slum Dog Millionaire tonight. But, all I can say is SINGLE MOM OF TWINS who are RUTHLESS! So, I didn’t get to see a movie. Instead, my friends, (sorry), I’m giving you the Academy Award Nominations and open it up for conversation! I’ll catch that movie by next Monday, for sure!
BUT, WITH EVERY DARK CLOUD… COMES A SILVER LINING!
Wendy at Musings of A Bookish Kitty did DOUBLE the work this week! How did she know?
She reviewed Gran Torino with Clint Eastwood and Defiance!
Can you hear me chanting… “Wennn-DEE, Wennnn-DEE!”?
Just click on Clint Eastwood and you’re on your way to 2 Fabulous Reviews!
Also, see Mr. Linky below. We’ve got Be Kind Rewind and Inkheart reviews added this morning. Any movies listed after Gran Torino and Defiance are new movie reviews for the week!

LOL I am glad I could help, Sher! Thank you for linking my reviews. I was going to do that this morning when I got up for work and was so surprised to find not only had you linked them in Mr. Linky, but I’m also featured on your blog post! Thanks so much!
I really want to see Slum Dog Millionaire too. Maybe I’ll drag hubby to see it on Friday.
I was disappointed to see that Kate Winslet wasn’t nominated for either of her recent supporting roles. I’ve only had the chance to see two of the Best Picture nominations so far: The Reader and Milk. I would like to see the others, but I don’t know if I’ll get a chance before the actual award show.

I added my post to Mr. Linky.
So, the Academy considered Kate’s role in The Reader as “leading” actress while the people nominating for Golden Globes considered it a “supporting” role?
I think the movie I most want to see on your list is Vicky Cristina Barcelona, but really, so many of them look excellent.

Thanks for stopping by – our meme is more overall themes whereas yours seems to be review specific. I see double features in our future! I sadly cannot review any of the nominees – didn’t see any of them yet – but do have many in our queue – will await your review of Slumdog when those twins let you get to it. My friend is struggling with 1 month old twin boys right now and I am of no help to her not having any baby experience and having to work whenever she needs a hand. I don’t know how you do it as a single parent.
