The Sunday Salon… I’m Still Behaving Myself

Surprisingly, I am still behaving myself!  Wow.  Call the people at Guinness!  Well… I did have a bit too much fun at Bunko on Friday night… oh, and I won MOST BUNKOS and made $40 on the deal!  Cool beans!

The Sunday Salon: Week in Review AND Up n’ Coming Events…

I read and reviewed:

Two of the books got a “10 out of 10″ on Sher’s “Out of 10 Scale.”  All in all, a good reading week.  Also, my daughter Nicole wrote a book review:

  • Eldest by Christopher Paolini

In my mailbox for revew…

A big fat NOTHING.   Actually, this is a good thing, I want to stay on-target with my reading list.  Although, some of you people are tempting me with books and I have a few posts saved with your recommendations.  I will wait until I get all of my ARC’s finished before I purchase any more books… well, except for maybe Revolutionary Road… I really want that one.

For my contests & challenges…

I have extended this past week’s  Thursday’s Thoughts : Just One Question for another week.   The topic is: If you could ask that one famous Hollywood Star ONE question… what would it be?  Now, this can be any kind of star… dead or alive… tv or movie… singer… whatever.  The deadline is, of course, Thursday… but, don’t put it off… click on over now and leave your comment.  The prize is your choice of a DVD or a book about a Hollywood star.  I’m going to be changing the MEME up a bit.  I’ve decided to change the MEME to posting the question on Wednesday night and people post their answer on Thursday.  In addition, the weekly prize will no longer be.  :(   But, I will hold a raffle of all entries for the month and, at the end of the month, there will be a prize from the raffle.  Also, the winner of each week’s Thursday’s Thoughts will have the option to choose the thought-provoking question for the following week’s MEME.

We’re cranking right along with the Just For the Love of It Reading Challenge!  We’re a small, but happy group (I think!).  If you have joined but haven’t put your name in Mr. Linky, please do so today.  And, if you haven’t signed up… you still can and feel free to do so ANY TIME!  I’d be thrilled, privileged and honored.

Movie Reviews…

mondays-movie-jpgThis week, I reviewed Made of Honor.  It didn’t rate so well with me, only 2 bags o’ popcorn.  I have NO IDEA what I am going to post tomorrow.  I did watch GWTW (in case you’re not the fanatic that I am… that’s Gone With The Wind) with the twins this week.   Maybe I’ll get to go and see The Reader soon.  Looks like I’m in for another PPV or rental.

Please remember:  THIS IS THE BEGINNING OF A NEW MEME!  SO, PLEASE JOIN IN!  Some of you are doing TV movies, classic movies, rental movies and big-screen movies.  ANYTHING WORKS!  Just any old movie will do!  The only thing that I respectfully ask is that you use the Monday’s Movie logo (side), you post it on Monday, and that you rate the movie out of FIVE BAGS OF POPCORN.  I have pictures of the bags of popcorn at the bottom of the post that you can copy from or you can use your own.   You can do one a week, one a month… or one whenever… just join in, you movie lovers!  Oh, and special shout-out to Deslily who is just cranking out those movie reviews!

At home…

Well, not a ton to report this week.  STILL looking for a job and have my feelers out there.  The kids have a basketball game tomorrow and so far their team is undefeated (watch me jinx them by writing that).  I’m eating well and treating myself good.  I’m chuggin’ along on my reading of the Bible.  I’m thrilled that Weekly Geeks is back up and running.  It was great to post yesterday.  I also had a ton of fun with my week in TV review this week.  I’ve decided, FOR SURE, that girls rule and boys drool.  Nothing else to report!

Closet is still clean, Shana.  But, the laundry pile is atrocious!

See you later, Lisa! (okay.  okay.)

Toodles, Saloners!

You’re in a high dollar bunco group. We only put in 5 bucks each so the most buncos wins $20. It’s so much fun even if you don’t win. I hope this week is as good as last week was.

sounds like you’ve had a busy week. i love the Movie Mondays meme- maybe I’ll do it this week! I know I do book reviews but it might be fun to talk about a film adaptation of a novel, or something like that. Good luck with your job search – it’s not easy out there. And continued success to your kid’s team! :-)

Waiting until you are caught up with the ARC’s is probably a wise decision–but oh so hard! LOL I haven’t been quite so successful at it myself–it’s those gift cards burning a hole in my wallet.

I have Made of Honor sitting on my movie basket at the moment–rented it from Netflix. I have heard not so great things about it, but I’m determined to see it for myself. LOL If I ever get around to it. I seem to keep finding excuses not to watch it.

    Have a great week!

I really, really want to take part in Monday’s Movie, but my computer won’t accept the graphic because it’s in .png format. Do you think you could do a .jgp version?

Kids won their game (still undefeated). I sent over the jpg version and changed it up on this post as well. Bunco is a $15 buy-in and they pay-out most bunkos the highest, then most wins (me), then most losses. I actually won $55, but deducted my initial investment.

My brother came and took the Christmas lights down today. Yippee.

I read two books for the Just for the Love of It challenge thus far. Yes, I am a very happy member. :) I just bought The Reader last week. I’ll have to stop by and read your review.

Well, my washing machine is BROKEN, so my laundry pile is more than atrocious! I’m going to haul everything to my grandma’s to get caught up tomorrow!

    I want Revolutionary Road too!
