Monday’s Movie: Made of Honor

||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
I invite everybody to participate in the weekly MEME and write about any movies, television or big screen, that you’ve seen over the past week and write about it. Please feel free to use the above logo photo in your post and/or link back to the site. I will post every Sunday Night or Monday Morning on the movie I’ve seen from the past week. I’m hoping that there are other movie buffs out there who will enjoy the MEME as much as I’m hoping to! The only small request that I have is that you rate the movie out of 5 bags of popcorn (so, 1 bag out of 5, 2 bags out of 5, and so on).

Before I get started on my review, here is the link to Amanda’s Review of Jump with Patrick Swayze. It was an awesome review and went into great detail about the moving, acting, and actors. Please ensure you check out this post. If you post for Monday’s Movie this week, please sign up on Mr. Linky and then add the URL of your post in a comment below!

Movie: Made of Honor
Starring: Patrick Dempsey and Michelle Monaghan
Genre: Comedy, Romance
Runtime: 1 Hour 41 Minutes
MPAA Rating: PG-13
Directed By: Paul Weiland
Synopsis: Tom Bailey is in love with his best friend Claire. But Tom has a fear of commitment and refuses to admit the obvious–he should propose to Claire before she finds a less procrastinating suitor. When Colin, a rich Scotsman sweeps Claire off her feet and asks for her hand in marriage, Tom must witness her unquestioned happiness up close and personal–because she’s chosen him to be her Maid Of Honor.
I am a ridiculously, never-ending, sappiest of sappy romantic comedy movie lover. There probably isn’t one that I haven’t seen. Yes, it is that bad. On New Year’s Day… the twins and I decided to stay in and rent a movie rather than hitting the cold, 51 degree, and very foggy Southern California weather to face the crowds at the theatre. We surfed through the PayPerView Options and came across Made of Honor. Well, I never saw it in the theatres and it did have KEVIN MCKIDD in it! If you haven’t been keeping up on my blog, I am like gushingly infatuated with this actor… aaahhh… Anyway, we rented it for $3.99.
My Hunky Babe
I’m afraid to say, that despite some of the laugh-out-loud moments, this movie was just horrible. It was so predictable that I just thought… what a waste of cute men! The cast, however, was good and included Sydney Polluck and all kinds of cool actors. And, did I say, KEVIN MCKIDD? The scenery in Scotland was AWESOME and I loved it. I also very much liked the scene when Dempsey tried to beat McKidd in the Scottish male verility games in the tree-throwing contest.
The US Box Office Receipts from this movie were: $46,012,734. Not too shabby. Is this merely because of McDreamy? I liked watching McKidd sing to Monaghan. And, Monaghan is such a pretty girl. She reminds me so much of a younger Sandra Bullock. She’ll go far in the industry. And, there is a great crazy chick in the movie… THE PSYCHO BLOGGER who is infatuated with Dempey’s character and writes 2-page blog posts about every feature on his face. You gotta love that character! I hope that I don’t turn into her about KEVIN MCKIDD.
There were two scenes that were “tween” inappropriate… hence I paused and excused them from the room until the scene was over. I wish I could share more about this movie… the only thing left to say is wait for it to come on cable or TV and it’s free. No need to spend money on the rental. Unless, you like KEVIN MCKIDD! Have I said his name enough? I know… I know.
So, out of 5 bags of popcorn, genre romantic comedy… I give this:

I haven’t seen it but I think Patrick Dempsey is really very cute. We liked him a lot in Enchanted.

I didn’t see this because I read bad reviews, but I definitely thought about it, I mean how bad can a movie be when you have that many pretty men to stare at? It’s a shame.

Thanks for this review… I hate those kinda sappy, predictable movies. I love a good girly flick, but some are getting so boringly lame lately. I must live under a rock because I have never heard of Kevin Mckidd.
I laughed… I thought you were only joking about the psycho blogger in the movie!
Thanks for the mention. In Australia, we are a day ahead. So, I should have saved my movie review for today (Tuesday). I will do that next time, so it can be included on your lastest movie review.

Sheri, As a hopeless “rom/com” addict, I completely agree with you about this movie not being all that I had wanted. Just thank goodness Patrick Dempsey is as cute as he is! And Scotland so beautiful. The film just didn’t work very well. I was going to review a movie I watched on PPV yesterday, but it was so disturbing and poorly done… an indie flick that I don’t think anyone will find anyway. My brother in law works for the production co. that made it, so I better just keep my mouth shut! If I thought anyone would see it, I would risk it and warn them off, but it’s pretty obscure. I’ll try to participate next week! Thanks!
