Book Award’s Reading Challenge 2008 – Update

Not Meeting My Own Expectations…

Here are the rules for the Challenge:

10 months. 10 award winners.

Rules: Read 10 award winners from August 1, 2008 through June 1, 2009.

You must have at least FIVE different awards in your ten titles.

Overlaps with other challenges are permitted.

You don’t have to post your choices right away, and your list can change at any time.

‘Award winners’ is loosely defined; make the challenge fit your needs, keeping in mind Rule #2.

So far, I have completed:

• Love in the The Time of Cholera (August) Nobel Prize
• I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings (September)
• Jesus Land:  A Memoir, Julia Scheeres (December) – Need to write review
• The Kite Runner, Khaled Hosseini (December)
• The Glass Castle:  Jeannette Walls  (December)
• The Road, Cormac McCarthy - (December) Pulitzer Prize

I’ve got coming up:

• Of Mice & Men, J. Steinbeck
• To Kill a Mockingbird, Harper Lee
• Life of Pi by Yann Martel – Currently Reading (January)
• Gone With the Wind, Margaret Mitchell

So… why not meeting expectations…?  Well, I had planned on reading and posting a review once a month for this challenge.  I’m not doing so good.  I don’t know how I can re-read Gone With The Wind with all of the others… may have to change that one.  I’m wondering if Atonement qualifies…?   I’m dying to read that book!

O.K…. so, I’m trying to hold myself accountable here… READ BABY READ and REVIEW IT!
