What Could Be Better?

This week’s contest is in celebration of a couple of things… first, being a woman and second, is romance!

I recently read Flirting With Forty by Jane Porter.  The Early Birds Blog Tour is reviewing this book on December 5th.  In addition, there is a live broadcast with Jane Porter on December 5th in which you can talk directly to Jane and ask away!  But, what I’m very excited about is that on December 6th, Lifetime has adapted Flirting With Forty into a Lifetime Original Movie starring Heather Locklear.  SO COOL!

One of the things that I like most about seeing a movie based on the book is having read the book prior to watching the movie.  So, I thought to myself… if we don’t review it until December 5th, why… you wouldn’t have enough time to read the book before the movie.  So… my wheels got to turning and I got in touch with the publisher and the author about an exciting giveaway for Flirting With Forty readers!

A little “heads up.”  The main storyline in Flirting With Forty is about Jackie, a 39-year old divorced mother of two finding love and discovering herself during her 40th Birthday trip to Hawaii.  There, she meets this WAY SEXY surfer named Kai.  Now, I’m not going to reveal too much about the book because, not only do I have a review coming on December 5th, but I think it would be super if you picked up the novel and read it between now and then.

So… for the LOVE IN THE TROPICS CONTEST, I’m giving you a few choices for your entries:

  • I don’t have any tropical recipes, I guess I need to expand my cooking skills. And I haven’t been anywhere tropical – my husband was going to take me to Hawaii for our tenth anniversary last year, but that fell through.

I haven’t had a girls-only vacation – how wonderful would that be! I did have a day blackberry picking with my mom and sisters while the men watched our kids (ten total between the three of us sisters). That was about two years ago. I remember that we had a fabulous time talking contantly over the top of each other’s words. The most amazing thing to me was that it was the first time that all of us had been alone together for a day in about 16 years. We haven’t had a day like that since, and we need to do it more often. Maybe someday, when the kids are older we can actually have a girls-only vacation.

And since I didn’t really talk about a girls-only vacation, let me say that I certainly hope that 40 is the new 30, because I’m over thirty now myself!

  • Hi Sheri,
I am going to try to blog about your contest when I get out of work tomorrow. I think it is a fabulous idea! I just love the retro pictures!

Mix the rum and the melon liqueur, and slowly pour the cranberry juice on top until it fills half the glass. Carefully fill the remainder of the glass with orange juice, so it floats on top of the cranberry juice mixture.

  • My favorite tropical getaway was a trip to St. Thomas. It was gorgeous, although much more hilly than I’d thought of. The water was crystal clear, and in the resort we stayed in, each family had their own separate house. It was truly paradise. We went on a submarine ride, which was awesome. My favorite part had to be snorkeling. We went to St. John’s island, and at the public park, went snorkelng. It was my first time, and discovering that beautiful world undersea was amazing. Of course, the tropical food and the tropical love life were great also!
