The Sunday Salon: A Menagerie of Thoughts…
Happy Sunday and welcome back to my blog! I’m very happy to have you here, reading my posts! I don’t know what happened last Sunday. I posted, but I never received it on my feed. I hope that y’all did.
The Sunday Salon: Week in Review AND Up & Coming Events
I read and reviewed two books for my TLC Book Tour in December: You Lost Him at Hello and The Alchemy of Loss. Since then, I’ve started and am nearly complete with Losing Kei, which I am really enjoying! I really like the story and have the characters well pictured in my mind’s eye.
In my mailbox for revew…
- Perfect on Paper by Maria Murnane
- Losing Kei
- Flirting with Forty
- In the Land of Invisible Women
For my contests & challenges:
I’m sooo behind. I want to get through all of the books that were provided to me by publishers for review. So, I am finding it difficult to get to the books that I am really interested in reading for the challenges, like Life of Pi. I have to figure out a way to get through my reading a bit quicker… or review less books… I’m not sure.
At home…
The girls and I have been feverishly working on our new business, www.BookCharming.com. We’ve had a dozen orders this week, so we’re excited. I’m working on finalizing my displays and packaging for retail sales and I am preparing for an in-home party this upcoming week. I just really think they make a good teacher gifts, caregiver gifts, and stocking stuffers, because the price can’t be beat for what you get. So, I’m on fire about it and really looking forward to watching sales pick up as we get nearer to the holidays.
The girls won their soccer game today and are therefore going to the playoffs next Saturday. I referee’d today. It was a great game with the kids on the field… but I had one side where the coach was just an insane yeller. He kept calling out stuff from the sidelines and interrupting my calls. Then, his families got on my case on one of my calls. I got into a bit of a verbal battle with them and it ruined the entire experience for me. I’m not going to referee anymore. The parents and the coaches just take it WAY too seriously and lose all common courtesy with the refs. I guess, lesson well learned.
Contests….
Memes and such…
The Reader Round Robin went nowhere… so, let’s call that one a “dead ball.” Thank you to Shana for being my BBFF (Best Blogging Friend Forever) and being willing to play.
I do, however, really like Seven Clown Circus’ Wordful Wednesday and also Friday’s Fill-Ins. They are short, easy and fun and I like seeing other kinds of blogs via the responses.
I don’t understand Mr. Linky. If somebody would explain it to me, I’d be indebted forever!
Other…
Just a generalized “thank you” to my blogging friends… who always make me smile and keep me inspired to write: Shana, Anna, Alyce, Yasmin, and Lisa… you’re the BEST!
And, being a brat… I’m going to be happy for Monday’s DWTS because Susan Lucci was voted off! Yeah!

I’ve decided to temporarily stop accepting books for review. I’ve been wanting to read A Thousand Splendid Suns and The Red Tent for the longest time but keep setting them aside in favor of review books and book club picks. I want to start picking my own books. I’m not planning to do any challenges this year either, so there!
Love the pics of Dee Dee and Colie, and bookcharming.com looks wonderful- great idea!! We miss you guys. Hope to see you tonight.

Sher, your girls are lovely. Just like their mommy!
Lisa, thought I’d ask you since you’re the tenured blogger – what do you do about unsolicited review copies?
