Archive for November, 2008
In my previous “job,” I was constantly on the computer and, frankly, the last thing I wanted to do when I got home was to power it up again! Now, I go on vacation and I am completely “jones’ng” the entire time to be back to my “life.” Holy crap! Is my life now tethered to a computer? I’m assuming, yes! I love the computer now more than I ever did in my previous “job.”
So, I was able to send a couple of emails from vacation, THANK GOD, and I think y’all are in the loop with the pictures, etc. But, to get back on track, this is what’s on the board for this week:
Books Who Have Made Their Way to Me For Review
Well, I have made a decision that, until I am “caught up” with all of my current reading, I will not be accepting any more review copies. But, I do participate in TLC Book Tours and will continue to accept books for Lisa’s tours. I’m super pumped about Breathing Out The Ghost by Kirk Curnutt…. my review will be in January and you won’t want to miss it! It’s a super interesting read! I’m very excited about it and, knowing me, will read it before others that I’m “supposed to read” first. Oh well, it’s good getting to know my habits so well. I believe that TLC Book Tours is presenting multiple reviews of this book in January.
Books I Am Reading
I started to read Life of Pi, but kept getting hung up in the first chapter. So, I shifted to The Road. Well, I met a woman at a party and she was “wow’ing” over this book. Again, this high expectations thing kills my reading. But, it is a Pulitzer Prize Winner… so it MUST be good. So, I’m about 1/2 way through it and I still have so many unanswered questions. If I never see ash again, after reading this book, I’d be a happy woman. But, it does captivate me, so…. let’s see what the second half brings. I hear they made/are making a movie about it.
For review, I need to complete In The Land of Invisible Women, Starting From Scratch When You’re Single Again and Dating DaVinci. It’s a mystery to me which one will be my next read.
Books I Really Want to Read
After seeing Atonement (movie), I absolutely, positively have to read this book. There’s no way I can avoid it after seeing the movie. I LOVED THE MOVIE! Also, from Hachette Books, I am going to be reading two books from David Sedaris. My sister, Terra, says he’s fabulous… anybody read him yet? And, for give me for not knowing the exact title, but the New Testament book that many of you bloggers have read. I’m so intrigued!
I’m just feeling sad because my reading has really slowed down. I have 3 reviews performed and ready for post between now and the 9th… but, I feel like I have to dedicate a little bit more time to it.
Shows That I Can’t Wait to Watch
FLIRTING WITH FORTY! This week… the 6th… is the movie! Come on y’all… can’t miss this one! Jane Porter is not only a great writer but a lovely person. I can’t wait to see her novel come to shape on screen. Set your TIVO’s and DVR’s, ladies (& gents?). In any event, don’t miss it! My review on this book is being published on the 4th.
PRIVATE PRACTICE. I just love this show. Taye Diggs is so super foxy… as is that actor from Wings… Tim Daly? I can’t remember his name… but, GOD is he a babe!
THE OFFICE. Jim and Pam being separated is driving me certifiably insane. Be together, Jim and Pam!
GREY’S ANATOMY. I don’t know why all the critics are bashing it. I still love it as much as ever.
THE BACHELOR. I’m still a die-hard for this show. Jason is a bachelor from the last Bachelorette show. He’s a single dad from Washington State. He’s super cute and a good daddy. So, folks, a weekly update you’ll get to replace DWTS.
Speaking of DWTS, I didn’t get a chance to watch the two final shows. I know that Brooke won (gag me with a spoon), but that’s all I know. I wanted Lance or Warren to win. But, everybody agreed that her continued consistency was why she deserved the award. Whatever!

My Family Photos
Anyway, my brother’s family:
By now, I am desperately wishing that I had my computer… I was checking my blogs… and typing away. By now, I am in total BLOG WITHDRAWL! By now, my kids are loving playing games with me… either that or they can’t wait until I get gome and blog so that I can leave them alone. By now, my sister Terra and I have hit Snow Summit and have had a little Hot Toddy and I have scoped out lots of cute snow boarders. By now, I am ready to leave the snow and come home to put on a tank top! By now, I am getting cabin fever. By now, I am thankful that my brother is a chef. By now, I have held my baby nephew to my heart’s content. By now… I’m missing y’all!
BE LIVE TOMORROW!
So, I am up in the mountains on my vacation… my brother and his family showed up today. They brought a laptop! Oh Goodie! So, I get to check my blog, emails, etc. Whew! I was going through severe blog withdrawl. I’m sure that many of you are gone for the holidays, as well. But, thanks to everybody who stopped by to wish us a Happy Thanksgiving. It snowed and the kids were so ultra excited. I’m not sure the dogs agreed with their enthusiasm. We made our turkey dinner on Wednesday so that we could have it again on Thanksgiving and not waste the delicious food. My brother is making chili tonight… perfect for the cold weather. He just made us all the most awesome turkey sandwiches for lunch. I gotta love the fact that my brother is a cook (not for a living, but at home). Yeah! No more cooking! My sis, Terra, and I are going out for drinks and are ditching the kids, dogs & my brother. AHA! Even more fun. Tommorrow is our shopping and zoo day.
I watched the movie Atonement last night. I cried. IT WAS AWESOME. I see that it was based off of a book. Guess what I’m picking up when I get home? I also watched Sixteen Candles… I still love that movie! The 80’s were great!
I’m reading The Road while up here. I also made 30 BookCharmers…
I can’t wait to get home and send y’all the pictures!
Have a great weekend!
